Herbert Peoples

A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2007, at the Second Missionary Bapist Church for Herbert S. Peoples, 77, Junction City, Kansas. Reverend Leonard Gray will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will take place 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel 805 Caroline Ave. Mr. Peoples passed away late Sunday, July 15, 2007, at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Memorial contributions may be given to the Second Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund 701 W. 10th Street Junction City, Kansas 66441.



Herbert was born May 24, 1930, in Camilla, Georgia the son of Henry and Lillie Peoples. He has resided in Junction City, Kansas since 1955.



Herbert was a retired United States Civil Service Employee. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church; American Legion Post # 45; V.F.W. Post # 8773; Acacia Masonic Lodge # 91 and the Nathan W. Thatcher Consistory #107.



He married Joyce Wilkins February 13, 1974, in Junction City. She survives.



Other survivors include two sons, Cater Peoples of Junction City and Lucuis Crawford of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by two daughters, Corine Wardell of Gainsville, Florida and Eureka Cook of Brooklyn, New York. He is survived by nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
