Henry R. Jaime, 87, of Junction City, KS, passed away on December 19, 2018 A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday December 27, 2018 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd., Manhattan, KS 66503.
Henry was born on March 15, 1931, in Visalia, California. He enlisted in the United States Army as a young man and proudly served his country for over 23 years.He earned many commendations and awards including, but not limited to: Bronze Star w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 1960 Device, Good Conduct w/ 4th Award, Expert Badge (Carbine), Expert Badge (Pistol), Expert Badge (90mm Tank Gun), and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #45 of Junction City and a card carrying member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Henry was very proud of his military career, but he had other hobbies. He was an expert marksman. In the mid 1950's, he participated in the Pan-American Olympic Games. He was part of many rifle and small arms teams. He also taught gun safety and marksmanship to children wherever he lived. He had a strong love for photography. He carried a camera everywhere he went in order to capture life's beautiful moments.
He will be missed.
Henry is survived by his loving family: his two sons, Robert Jaime of Raytown, MO and Milton Jaime of Junction City, KS; one daughter, Sandra Heinrich of Konigsbrunn, Germany and a host of loving family and friends.
