Helen M. Steele-Westfall

Helen Marie Steele-Westfall, 85, of Junction City, died March 29, 2016 at Valley View Senior Life. Helen was born August 4, 1930 in Junction City, the daughter of Dennie and Velma (Drennon) Steele. A life-long Junction City resident, she attended Junction City schools, and graduated from Junction City High School in 1948. Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City.

Helen worked for Civil Service on Ft. Riley for many years before retiring. After her retirement on post, she worked with youth in reading and other academics.

Helen is survived by 2 sons, Mark Westfall, Junction City, and Matt Westfall, Grand Island, Nebraska; 2 grandchildren, Ian Westfall and Andrea Messina; and 2 great-grandchildren, Logan and Brooklin Stoddard. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Lois Waters and Susan Atkinson; and a daughter, Christie Walsh of Wamego.

It was Helen's wish to be cremated.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Susan Trei-Conrad presiding. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City.
