Helen Louise Ervin, was born Jan. 7, 1927 in Abilene, Kansas in the house the family homesteaded since the early 1900's. She grew up in Abilene and various places in Iowa. She is the oldest of 10 children born to Mearl and Flossie Yorgensen. She passed away from a short illness June 15, 2021 at Geary Community Hospital.
She married Fred Roberg and had one daughter, Dianne Eileen Henderson.
Helen married Ralph Ervin in 1955 and they had one daughter, Connie Jo (Ervin) Peck. They were married 34 years. She has been a widow for 32 years.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed family, camping, boating, fishing, traveling, bowling, playing cards, church and volunteer work at Geary Community Hospital as well as at a hospital in Arizona during the winters where she lived.
In 2016, her health moved her from her home to live with Connie and Larry until April of 2021 when she moved in to Brookdale Senior Living until her death.
She is survived by her daughter Connie (Larry) Peck of Junction City; two sisters, Lois Yorgensen, Phoenix, Arizona and Judy (Jerry) Jones, San Antonio, Texas and two brothers, Bernard Yorgensen, Mayer, Arizona and Mearl, Jr. (Rose) Yorgensen, Palo, Iowa; grandsons Justin Peck, Aaron Peck, Chris (Gina)Potter and Bryan Erich, granddaughters Danielle (Earnest) Buffin, Las Vegas, Nevada, Whitney Peck, Tirana, Albania, Kistin (Patrick)Ballou, Bellevue, Idaho and Michelle Ervin, Florida, and great grandsons Kai Potter and Kelly Henderson and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Mearl and Flossie Yorgensen, husband Ralph Ervin, step-son and wife, Michael and Irene Ervin, daughter Dianne Henderson, two brothers, Fred and Floyd and three sisters, Dorothy Peterson, LaVerne Reese, and Deloris Sharp.
