Helen E. Thompson, 82, of Junction City, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at The Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. Helen was born Jan. 28, 1934 in Council Grove, the daughter of Andrew N. & Juanita E. (Board) Broils. Helen moved with her parents to Junction City at a young age and attended Junction City Schools. She was a long-time Day Care provider in Junction City.
Helen was a member of The Church of Our Saviour United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women of the church in Junction City.
Helen married John W. Thompson on May 28, 1955 in Kansas City, Mo. John passed away Oct. 5, 2001. Survivors include: 4 daughters, Cheryl Anderson and husband Joe, Tammy Thompson-Gibbs, all of Junction City, Terry Thompson and husband Johnny, Meridian, Mississippi, and Tina Williams, Topeka; 4 grandchildren, Brian Gibbs, Jr., Wichita, Tamrian Gibbs, Junction City, LaTera Smith and Johnny Thompson, both of Meridian, Mississippi; and a great-granddaughter, Brilee Simone, Junction City. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers, Forrest Broils, Sr., and Charles L. Broils.
A Home Going Celebration will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Mar. 3, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
