Harold O. Wilson, 95, of Junction City, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2022, at Brookdale of Junction City.
He was born on December 17, 1926, in Sycamore, Georgia to John and Clara (Gilley) Wilson.
Harold was drafted in the United States Army shortly after high school and served in Italy during WWII. He was later assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas and was honorably discharged in 1952.
He married Nadine Ann Neeland on April 24, 1954, in Dwight, Kansas. Together, they purchased the Credit Bureau of Junction City and had one son Hal.
Throughout his life, Harold was very dedicated to serving his community. He was active in many professional and civic organizations including Kansas Collectors Association, Chamber of Commerce, Military Affairs Counsel, Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 45, Economic Development Commission, Junction City Housing & Development Corporation and the Fort Riley Chapter of AUSA.
Harold served on the City Commission for 14 years and served as Junction City Mayor for 3 terms.
Survivors include his son, Harold (Hal) Wilson II; his grandchildren, Morgan (Mike) Van Noy, Logan Wilson; three great grandchildren; and his niece Penny (Randy) Myers.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Nadine, his parents; and his sister, Wilma Ponder.
Harold had a strong commitment to his family, faith and community. He was honored numerous times and was awarded multiple accolades throughout his lifetime. Harold will be greatly missed.
The family will greet friends Monday at 10am on August 15, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will follow at 11am. Private inurnment will be at Humboldt Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. 5th Street, Junction City, KS 66441.
