A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Harold K. Johnson, 75, Junction City, on Monday, May 7, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 6, 2007, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Mr. Johnson passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at his home in Junction City. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hospice and Home Heath Care at Geary Community Hospital c/o Geary Community Health Care Foundaton P.O. Box 3015 Junction City, Kansas 66441 or to the Open Door 136 W. 3rd Street Junction City, Kansas or St. Xavier Catholic Church 218 N. Washington Street Junction City, Kansas, 66441.



Harold was born June 16, 1931, in Chapman, Kansas the son of Harold and Louise (Kummer) Johnson. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1949. He attended Kansas State University and the University of Minnesota studying industrial engineering. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 during the Korean conflict and served with the 11th Airborne and 7th Infantry in Korea. He was awarded two Bronze Stars.



Harold was employed with the Bemis Company as a machine designer in Minneapolis and Los Angeles until 1976 when he founded Mid America Machine Corp. in Junction City where he designed and manufactured packaging machinery within a worldwide market. He sold Mid America in 1986 and retained consultant status until 1990 when he purchased the assets of the former Mobile Traveler business. Along with his sons, he began a new company that manufactured recreational vehicles called Horizons, Inc. Horizons Inc. was sold in 2002. He later purchased the Junction City Country Club in 2002 along with his sons which he managed until the time of his death.



He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and V.F.W. Post #1594.



He married Muriele McLaughlin in 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She survives.



He is survived by three sons, Scott Johnson and his wife Candy; Bruce Johnson and his wife Kathy and Todd Johnson and hs wife Nancy. He is also survived by his grandchildren and step grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Brian Johnson, Stacy Johnson, Erin Johnson, Anne Johnson, Nicholas and Matthew Musto, Ayden Johnson, Aliah and Faith Martin.



He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Johnson, Sr. in 1954, his mother, Louise Johnson Matlock in 1998, a brother Raymond Johnson in 1954, a brother Russell Johnson in 2005 and a sister Myrna Johnson Kelly in 2005.



Casket Bearers will be Joshua Johnson, Brian Johnson, John Carlson, Tyrone Grant, Gerald Lechner, Larry Plaggerman, Fred Altwegg and Ken Ullmer.



Honorary Casket Bearers will be General Richard Seitz Ret., Dr. Alex Scott, Russell J. Johnson, Walter P. McLaughlin, Robert J. Finnegan and PFC Michael D. McLaughlin, Jr. and Harold N. Anderson.



Soloist will be Rick Munson and accompanist will be Vaudene Field.
