Funeral services for Staff Sgt. (Ret) Harold S. Boone, 75, of Junction City, will be held at 1p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, KS. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. Harold will lie in state from 1p.m., Friday, January 18, 2008 until 8p.m.,with the family receiving friends and relatives from 6-8p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Boone passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008 at his home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Home Healthcare at Geary Community Hospital in care of Geary Community Healthcare Foundation, P. O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS.
Harold was born November 28, 1932 in Berks Coutny, Pennsylvania to Lawrence Laverne Boone and Dorothy Lott Boone-Romig. Harold graduated from Milton Hershey School in 1951, entered the Army in 1953 and retired from the Army in 1973. He served in Vietnam with the 1st Inf. Div. He had a tour of duty in Germany and Thailand.
On November 5, 1954 he married Fern Wyatt. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by two sons;Tom and wife Margaret of Rio Rancho, NM, Daniel and wife Lyn of Alameda, CA, one daughter;Melodie of Alameda, CA, two Granddaughters; Lauren and Lacey, one Step-Granddaughter; Audrey, one Step-Grandson; Charles. They were the light of his life.
He is also survived by one half brother, Gail Romig and one half sister, Linda Romig of Birdsboro, PA.
