Harold V. Arthur, 85 of Junction City, KS. passed away Saturday, April 19, 2003 at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Services will be at the Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, April 23,2003 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Larry Brakenhoff will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel. He will be shipped to Virginia to be buried at Quantico National Cemetery in Dumfries, Virginia. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 5805 Clark's Creek Rd., Junction City, KS. 66441 and/or Good Samaritan Center, 416 W. Spruce, Junction City, KS. 66441
He was born June 12, 1917 in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of Lawrence J. and Bessie Weaver Arthur. He graduated from the class of 1935 at Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Illinois. He was married to Mildred Rub on February 17, 1946 in Joliet, Illinois. She survives.
He was the Distribution Center Manager for FW Woolworth
Company in Junction City and also managed locations in Chicago and San Francisco. He had worked for them for 47 years and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Junction City, a former Vice Chair of the EDC, he was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he was Vice President an Elder and an Usher.
Survivors include a Wife: Mildred Arthur, Junction City, KS.; One Son: James V. Arthur and wife Virginia, Ames, Iowa; One Daughter: Linda A. Pantke and husband Tom, Dumfries, Virginia; One Sister: Phyllis Van Sickle of Illinois. Four Grandchildren: Courtney L. Arthur of Iowa City, Iowa, Jeffrey S. Arthur of Hyde Park, N.Y., Joshua T. Pantke of Raleigh, N.C., and Sarah A. Pantke of Dumfries, Virgina. He was preceded in death by his Parents.
Honorary Casket bearers are Ralph Strauss, Sherm Hall, Bob Rook, Steve Roesler, John Hubbard, Mick Wunder, Walter Synowiecki.
Florence Whitebread will be the organist.
