Hally J. Brott, 87, of Junction City, died Sept. 25, 2015 at Valley View Senior Life. Hally was born May 2, 1928 in Junction City, the son of Hally H. & Georgia (Snow) Brott. Hally attended Junction City schools and graduated from Junction City High School in 1947. While in high school, Hally, known to his friends as "Stoney", excelled in football. This lead to Hally being offered a football scholarship to the University of Kansas. He attended K.U. for 2 years, but college and his football playing career were interrupted by the Korean War.
Hally enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served during the war in Japan as a Supply Sergeant.
After the war, he returned to Junction City and, along with his father and brother, operated Brott Construction. Later, he worked as a Stone Mason for the City of Junction City, where he worked until he retired. Hally was the happiest when he talked about playing football, his cars, and being around his friends, co-workers, and his family.
Hally was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Junction City.
Hally is survived by his sister, Lorene M. Brott, Junction City; 2 nephews, Gary Ervin and Tim Brott; 3 nieces, Sheila Marston, Patricia Bell, and Rhonda Cristobal; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Hally was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Oscar Brott; a sister, Irene Ervin; 2 nieces, Rita Brott and Linda Ervin; a nephew, Donald Ervin; a great-nephew, Paul Ervin; and a great-niece, Darla Marston.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Laurie Barnes presiding. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
