Grace (Marshall) Thomas, age 96, widow of Dale Thomas, went to be with the Lord on March 7th, 2011 while in The Geary Community Hospital, Junction City, KS surrounded by her loving family.
Grace was born in Lee County, Kentucky on June 14th, 1914 to the union of the late Green and Clara (Norman) Marshall. Grace and Dale were married on October 19, 1952 in St. Helens, Kentucky and were together for twenty-two years until his passing on December 3rd, 1974. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Springs Methodist Church. She enjoyed going to Church, working puzzles and was an avid reader and quilter.
Grace and her husband lived in Dayton, OH for many years where they raised their daughter. They returned back to Kentucky upon Dale's retirement, and lived in the St. Helens community until the time of his death, where later she first moved to Lexington, Kentucky and then to Junction City, Kansas to be near family.
She is survived by one daughter, Diane Walthers and husband David of Junction City, Kansas, one son, Freddie Marshall of Beattyville, KY, two beloved granddaughters, Kristin Works and Kayla Walthers, two very special great-grandsons, Evan and Ethan Martin, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents and husband, three sisters, Anna Wolf, Bertha Myers, and Mavis Stamper, three brothers, Arthur, Virgil, and Eugene Marshall.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011 with Reverend Jack Short officiating and visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 in Booneville, Kentucky. Burial followed at the Lucas Family Cemetery in Primrose, Kentucky.
