Gloria Benton, 67, of Junction City, passed away on January 25, 2014, at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Church of Deliverance 1524 N. Jefferson with Pastor Dorothy Garland and Reverend James Kirtdoll officiating. A repast will follow the memorial service at the First Southern Baptist Church 1220 W. 8th Street. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel.
She was born on June 25, 1946, in Topeka, KS the daughter of Mitchell Benton and Georgia Powell
Gloria enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and helping others. She attended Topeka Public Schools. She was a stay at home mom who nurtured two daughters, Anita L. Edwards of Springfield, MO and Marshelle E. Williams and Andre of Oceanside, CA who both survive.
She was preceded in death by her sister Vivian Brown Lawrence.
She was known as "Granny" to four grandchildren Kevin D. Ray, Danny R. Huggins, Jr., Jonah J. Williams and Micah J. Williams. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren Ciera and Kaiden Ray.
She lovingly leaves behind her brother-in-law Thomas Lawrence and cousins Gwen Powell, Deborah Tolbert, Kenneth Wright and Charla Parks as well as a host of other cousins, nieces and nephews, family and friends.
God has chosen this beautiful flower to grace his heavenly and eternal garden.
