Graveside services for Gladys "Darlene" Hicks, 71, of Junction City will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery with Father Dale Plummer officiating. Mrs. Hicks passed away at Geary Community Hospital on October 5, 2009. Memorial contributions may be given to the Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 580, Junction City, KS 66441. A remembrance gathering will follow the services at 11 a.m. at Guild Hall, Church of the Covenant, 4th and Adams. Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel is assisting the family with services.
Mrs. Hicks was born January 24, 1938, Junction City, KS to Henry C. and Eunice R. (Huff) Draper. She was a homemaker most of her life but had worked at various restaurants within the Junction City community. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Covenant.
She married Carl D. Hicks August 12, 1959 he preceded her in death January 14, 1998.
She is survived by three sons; Robert Hicks and wife Rita, Allan Hicks all of Junction City and Gerald Hicks and wife Fran of Wichita, KS, one daughter; Nancy Pennington and husband Coy of FL, daughter-in-law, Chris Hicks, one sister; Shirley Raymond of Junction City, KS, six grandchildren; Sarra Hoferman, Jessee Pennington, Rita Quick and Daniel Quick, Eric Burnett and Angie Haynes and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; David Hicks (2008), one brother; Lloyd Draper and three sisters; Norma, Maxine and Geraldine.
Pallbearers will be, Robert Hicks, Gerald Hicks, Daniel Quick and Coy Pennington.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Drew and Franklin Drew.
