Gladys Gfeller, 97 of Chapman, KS. passed away on May 14, 2003 at the Chapman Valley Manor. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2003 at the First Baptist Church with the burial at Highland Cemetery and Pastor G. Edmond Thomas of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2003 at Johnson Funeral Chapel.
Gladys was born January 21, 1906 in London, England to Herbert and Emily (Morris) Spittles.
She was married to Irvin A. Gfeller on March 1924 in Junction City, KS. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1981.
She worked 10 years at F.W. Woolworth as a clerk. She played bridge with the same bridge club for over 50 years and she loved to fish and golf. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include One Son, Kenneth S. Gfeller of Abilene, KS. and Two Daughters, Margaret Miller Boyer of Abilene, KS. and Virginia Lee Glass of Butler, Pennsylvania; Two Sisters, Grace Luthi and Ada Erichsen, both of Junction City. Eight Grandchildren, Thirteen Great-Grandchildren and Fourteen Great-Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death were her Parents, Husband, Five Brothers, Fred, bert, Clarence, Mike and Henry, and One Sister Emily Brown.
Casket Bearers will be Grant Bray, Mark Smith, James Woodall, Kenneth L. Gfeller, Delbert Gfeller and Joe Gfeller.
Honorary Bearers will be Jeff Woodall, Chris Woodall and Bill Gfeller.
Music will be provided by the organist Florence Whitebread and the vocalists Joel Hofer and Gail Dye.
