Graveside services for Gina M. Barber, 48, Junction City, KS will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Highland Cemetery with Clarence James officiating. A visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Gina passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to the Big Lakes Developmental Center, 1416 Hayes Drive, Manhattan, KS 66502.
Gina was born March 19, 1963, in Clay Center, KS the daughter of Roger and Marsha (Bonk) Stanley.
Gina graduated from Wakefield High School in 1981. She attended Cloud County Community College and Kansas State University. At Cloud County Community College she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She obtained an LPN Certificate from the University School of Houston, Texas. She worked as a child advocate and was a day care provider for many years.
She married Robert Barber January 1, 1992, in Junction City, KS. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her father Roger Stanley of Osceola, PA and her mother Marsha Swaim of Junction City, KS. She is also survived by four children, Darold David Barber, Starleena Clarabella Barber and Theodore Alexander Barber all of Junction City, KS and Donovan Richard Barber of Manhattan, KS. She is survived by three brothers, Richard Lee Swaim II and Jon Paul Swaim both of Junction City, KS and James Harold Swaim of Wakefield, KS and one sister, Cynthia Pearl Brown of Alexis, IL. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Amanda Swaim, God Daughter Andraia Brownail and her father and mother-in-law Robert and MaryJane Barber of Oak Harbor, WA.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joshua Michail in 1981.
