Gerald G "Gerry" Geringer, 81, of Junction City, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Chapman Valley Manor in Chapman, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2014, at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Kerry Ninemire officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery near Manhattan, KS. A visitation will be held 2-4 p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2014, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Memorial contributions may be given to the Geary Community Schools Foundation 900 N. Eisenhower Junction City, KS. 66441.
Gerry was born January 4, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, MO the son of Rupert and Marie (Roloff) Geringer.
He served in the United States Army having retired after 26 years at the rank of LTC. He later served as a Hospital Administrator for Geary Community Hospital, served as a medical consultant throughout the State of Kansas and served as a legislator serving the 65th District. He was a member of the St. Xavier Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge #1037, Eagles Club, VFW and the American Legion.
He married Dorothy "Peggy" M. Thompson August 13,1955, in St. Louis, MO she preceded him in death September 3, 2011.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Geringer of Wichita, KS and Randy Geringer of Manhattan, KS; three daughters, Terry Butler of Henderson, KY, Tammy Robinett and Stacy Schulte both of Kansas City, KS; two brothers, Kenny Geringer and Rick Geringer; one sister, Annie Dohogne; ten grandchildren, Garrett, Jeremy, Jason, Katie, Sarah, Michael, Ryan, Megan, Alexis and Nick; four great-grandchildren, Maddox, Piper, Henry and Amelia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Judy Green.
