Georgia Cohen, age 95, passed away Wednesday evening, September 7, at Chapman Valley Manor. She was born May 14, 1921, in Brookfield, MO. She married Arthur Cohen on August 6, 1944, in Junction City, Kansas.
Georgia was a charter member of The Geary County Community Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Church of the Covenant, Episcopal where she served on the Altar Guild, a member of the Eastern Star, the Junction City Country Club and the Lady's Reading Club. She was also a Cottey College Scholarship recipient.
She enjoyed playing bridge weekly, was an avid knitter and reader and received great satisfaction
from extensive letter writing. She talked to God a great portion of every day.
She donated too many charitable organizations and supported the Nurse's Scholarship Fund at the hospital for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, her three children, Tammie Hunt (Rex), Joplin, Mo. Mike Cohen (Jill), Libertyville, IL and Joyce Wright (John), Arvada, CO; three grandchildren, David Hunt (Lisa), Boise, ID, Christopher Cohen and Sean Cohen of Libertyville, IL; and two great grandchildren, Anna and Edwin Hunt of Boise. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sophia Hubbard and her niece, Marcia Field.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at the Church of The Covenant with Fr. David Jenkins presiding. Burial will follow in the Dwight Cemetery.
