Funeral services for George H. Blazier, 91 of Junction City will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 203 E. 10th St. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington St. An additional viewing will be 1 hour prior to the service at the Eagles. Mr. Blazier passed away on November 4, 2010 at Geary Community Hospital. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Research Fund, c/o the Masonic Hall Union Lodge #7, 722 ½ N. Washington St., Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Blazier was born August 29, 1919 in Topeka, KS to Earnest & Ida (Struee) Blazier.
George served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946. He had been a resident of Junction City since 1948 and had worked as a Carpenter for Civil Service at Fort Riley. He was a member of the Eagle's Lodge #830, the American Legion Post #45, the Masonic Lodge #7 and the Eastern Star Malita #116. George did a lot of volunteer work for the Eagle's Lodge and he loved spending time in his work shop making furniture.
He is survived by two daughters, Jeanie Ferguson and husband John of Kansas City, MO and Maryiln Cherry and husband Gerald of Livingston, TX, two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren,three great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
Mr. Blazier was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
