Gary L. Hankins, 62, of Junction City, passed away on January 10, 2014 at Mercy Health Center in Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street.
Funeral services will be held on January 17, 2014 at 10:00 am, at the Johnson Chapel, Junction City, KS.
Gary was born July 20, 1951, to parents Fred Sr. and Beverly (Lambert) Hankins, at Fort Riley, KS.
Gary was an avid fan of motorcycles and corvettes, and was a member of the Harley Owner's Group. He worked for several area car dealerships over the years, including McKenna's, Brigg's, and City Cycle Sales. Most recently, he was employed at Kansas State University as a custodial specialist.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Beverly Hankins of Junction City; a brother, Fred Hankins of Manhattan; an Uncle, Michael Lambert of Jackson, MS. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, other relatives, friends and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage friends and loved ones to make a donation in Gary's memory to one of the following organizations: The American Kidney Fund, The American Cancer Association, or Friends of Animals of Geary County.
