Funeral services for Garth D. Lee, 77 of Junction City will be Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, 804 N. Jefferson St., with Reverend Dr. Kenton Van officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 2-4 pm at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington St. Mr. Lee passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Geary Community Hospital. Memorial contributions may be made to the Geary Community Healthcare Foundation and or the First United Methodist Church c/o Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
Garth was born March 13, 1934 in Monument, Kansas to Jess & Opal (Greenwood) Lee. He graduated from Oakley High School. He later married Shirley Breckenridge on August 24, 1954 in Oakley, KS. Garth was drafted into the United States Army in 1954 and discharged in 1956.
Garth was a self-employed business man in Junction City for many years. He enjoyed used cars and activities with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Lee of the home, two daughters, Debi Nelson and her husband Steve from Topeka and Becky Lay and her fiance Ralph of Junction City. Five grandchildren, Kyle Lee, Becca Strom (Jordan), Matthew Nelson, Tyler Nelson and Christopher Coy. One Great-Granddaughter, Haley Pike. Many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Timothy J. Lee and three brothers, Jess, Robert and Jack Lee.
