Frieda Helen Schwartz, 95, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Valley View Senior Life Center. A funeral service will be 2 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor James Callaway officiating. A visitation will be held 6-8 PM Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home 203 N. Washington Street. Burial will follow the service at Milford Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
Frieda was born July 22, 1920, in Buhler, KS, the daughter of Peter and Katy (Dyck) Boese. Frieda lived most of her life in Wiley, CO. She moved to Kansas with her husband Delmer in 1990.
Frieda worked as the head cook for the Wiley Colorado School District for eighteen years. She was a faithful servant to her church for many years. She gave years of service to teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Frieda and her husband Delmer were active supporters of local youth athletics. She was a long time member of the Friendship Club and Lions Club in Milford, KS.
She married Delmer Schwartz July 17, 1938, in Lamar, CO. They were happily married for sixty five years. He passed away June 9, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Ron Schwartz of Garden City, KS; one daughter, Verna McKim of Milford, KS; nine grandchildren, Steve, Jill, Michael, John, Janelle, David, Daniel, Karen and Kevin; and scores of great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Delmer, two brothers, Jake and Henry.
