Mass of Christian Burial for MSG (Ret) Frederick W. Heine, 80, Junction City will be held at St. Xavier Catholic Church at 2:00pm Friday, January 8, 2010 with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St, Mary's Cemetery. Frederick passed away January 3, 2010 at Chapman Valley Manor. Visitation will be from 6-8pm January 7, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington with a vigil service to be held at 7:30pm. Frederick was born December 8, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA the son of Henry J. and Theresa C. (Eibes) Heine. He served 23 years in the US Army retiring June 27, 1973. As a new recruit he participated in the Korean Conflict during the landing at Inchon and subsequent battles. He served three tours in Germany. On a Military assistance (MAAG) assignment in Benghazi, Libya, he and his fellow soldiers were held under house arrest for 6 months following the coup and taker over by Col. Gaddafi. His final assignment brought him to Fort Riley. After retiring from the Army he worked at McKenna Pontiac, Gerald Jewelers and Burham's Liquor Store.
Frederick is survived by the following relatives Kurt D. and Linda Geisler, Michael P. Geisler and Kurt H. and Nancy Geisler all of Baltimore, Maryland; Richard and Linda Hurd of Florida and David Glover of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Henry Heine, Joseph Heine, Wilma Geisler and Margaret Glover.
