COL (Ret) Frederick "Fred" T. Dolan passed away May 13, 2013 at Geary Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Memorial contributions have been designated to St. Xavier Catholic School, P.O. Box 399, Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Fred was born June 12, 1931, Bangor, Maine to Henry T. and Cecelia (Ferguson) Dolan. He received his Bachelor of Science in 1953 from the University of Maine, Orono, Maine and he also graduated from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He was inducted in 1976 into the "Maine Bear Hall of Fame".
He married Patricia "Pat" Colbert April 12, 1956 at St. Xavier Catholic Church, Junction City, KS.
He served as Vice President from 1967 to 1981 and Senior Vice-President from 1981-1992 and Manager of the Consumer Loan Department from 1967-1992 at First National Bank and Trust Company of Junction City, KS.
Fred was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, the American Legion for 45 years, Life loyal, SIG of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Knights of Columbus (Life Honorary Membership), Life Member Reserve Officers Association of the United States, Life Member of the Historical and Archaeological Society of Fort Riley, KS.
He participated in "Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve" and Sundown Salute. Fred volunteered with the Junction City Little Theatre, the Junction City Arts Council, The Friends of Animals and with the Buffalo Soldier Monument Funding in which it took over 12 years to raise money.
He is survived by his wife Pat , his daughter, Shawn Cecelia Dolan Crank both of Junction City, KS and grandson, Brant Marcus Crank of Hays, KS.
