Frederick T. "Ted" Burnett, Jr., 97, of Goddard, formerly of Junction City, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Dove Estates in Goddard. Ted was born July 9, 1920 in Junction City, the son of Frederick T. Burnett, Sr. and Minnie (Hudson) Burnett. Until recent years and his military service, Ted was a life-long Junction City resident.
Ted worked in construction for 47 years and retired in 1982 as a Master Carpenter for U.S.D. #475.
Ted served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. with the 9th Air Force in World War II.
Ted was a member of the Earl C. Gormley, Post #45 of the American Legion, Junction City, the Carpenter's Union, and the World War II Memorial.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, trap shooting, and long motorcycle trips.
Ted married Mary Ellen Adams on June 8, 1947 in Manhattan. They had been married for 47 years. Mary died Dec. 15, 1991.
Survivors include: a step-daughter, Judy Cook, Mesa, Arizona; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Burnett, Wichita. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Burnett; and a brother, Bill Burnett; and 2 sisters, Cecil Palmer and Ina Griefe.
A private family service will be at a later date at Highland Cemetery in Junction City.
