A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with full military honors for Freddy E. Atkins, 71, of Junction City, KS. Freddy passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Geary Community Hospital. A visitation will be held 2 - 4 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the American Cancer Society, 1315 Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66604
He was born on July 5, 1943, Lubbock, TX. He served in the United States Army and retired as an E-8. After his retirement from the Army, he drove a school bus for Junction City Transportation Company.
Freddy loved to fish at Milford Lake. Freddy had fond memories being raised by his grandmother Charlie May Anderson.
On June 8, 1979, he married Neville Flint in Columbus, GA. , Neville survives of the home.
Freddy is survived by five sons, Reginald Atkins of Louisville, KY, Frederick Atkins and Rowland Atkins both of Austin, TX, Rodney Atkins of Wichita, KS and Roderick Atkins of Junction City, KS. and one daughter, Cynthia Stewart of Benicia, Ca. He is survived by two sisters, Jackie Gibson, and Paula Gibson both of El Centro, CA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
