Fred J. Voshel

November 18, 1932 — February 20, 2025

Fred J. Voshel, 92, of Junction City, Kansas died on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Stormont Vail - Flint Hills Campus Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. 

Memorial donations are suggested to be given to the Friends of Animals P.O. Box 580 Junction City, Kansas 66441

Fred was born November 18, 1932, in Coopersville, Michigan the son of Fred W. and Dorothy (DeCann) Voshel.

Fred graduated from Coopersville High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1957. During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Germany and Fort Riley, Kansas. 

Fred worked in the Junction City area from 1957 until 1995. During that time, he worked for Dunn Moving and Storage, Geary County Sheriff's Department, Mid America Machine Corporation and did construction work on Fort Riley. 

Fred enjoyed working in his yard and going to the lake. Part of his daily routine included going to McDonalds Coffee Club and visiting with his friends. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas State Wildcats fan. Fred was also a good woodworker and enjoyed making things for friends and family.

On October 15, 1960 he married Betty A. Stone in Junction City, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Junction City, Kansas; two sons, Dennis Voshel and his wife Kim of Olathe, Kansas and Kevin Voshel and his wife Betta of San Diego, California; three sisters, Sherrie Young, Carol Reynolds and Eloise Hoffman; two grandsons, Steven and Matthew.


He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, Warren Reynolds.
