Fred Junghans, 74, Junction City, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011, at his home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery with Vicar King Crawford officiating, you may pay your respects to the family from 1 p.m. until time of service at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Fred was born March 6, 1937, Junction City, Kansas to Norbert and Dora (Settgast) Junghans. He was a lifetime resident of Old Stage Road and Geary County. He was a farmer and rancher and specialized in feeder pig production for many years. He worked for Geary County Road and Bridge and Carlyon & Sons. He also ran a saw mill for many years and was an avid and accomplished woodworker and could repair anything mechanical. He was a member and elder of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He married Andrea Thurlow April 23, 1961 she preceded him in death November 3, 2003.
He is survived by son, Kyle Junghans of Junction City and daughter, Alicia Junghans of Caledonia, MI, one brother, Harley of FL and three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard and Roland and one sister, Arlene.
