Francis Eugene Shinn was born on January 30, 1931, in Vandalia, Missouri. He passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in a Nursing facility in Manhattan, Kansas.
Francis entered the U.S. Army in 1951, and Retired in 1972. He started out as a cook and then moved into transportation later. He earned a Vietnam Service Medal and four Overseas Service Bars.
He worked as a taxicab driver for 26 years, in Junction City, Kansas. He and his wife, Hyon, met while he was driving the cab. They were married in Kansas City, Missouri in 2000. He is Survived by his wife, Hyon and his son, Larry of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Shinn.
Francis will be remembered as a simple man, with a kind heart, and a good sense of humor. He was very proud of his military service to this country and of his ethical treatment of his customers as a cabbie.
He will be buried in the Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas on Friday, November 17, 2023, 10:00 a.m.
