Francis D. Edwards

Francis D. Edwards, 79, of Junction City, died Sat., July 2, 2016 at Valley View Senior Life. Francis was born June 7, 1937 at Pipestone, Minnesota, one of 13 children of Clyde and Cynthia (Lightfoot) Edwards. He attended school in Pipestone, and joined the U.S. Army in 1954. He spent over 20 years in the Army, retiring at Ft. Riley in 1975 as a Staff Sgt. After his military career, Francis worked at Wal-Mart and later as a civilian employee on Ft. Riley.
Francis married Phyllis Wacker at Ft. Ord, California on April 10, 1958. She survives. Other survivors include: a daughter, Patricia Watson and her husband Timothy Dreher, Junction City; and a granddaughter, Jenna Watson, Junction City. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Pamela Edwards.
Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled.
Burial of the ashes will be at a later date on Ft. Riley Post Cemetery.
