Services for Frances "Kingie" Cowan, 75, of Junction City, will be Monday, January 19, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Xavier Catholic Church. Father Al Brungardt will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, January 18, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel with vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Cowan died at her residence on January 16, 2004. Memorials may be given to the St. Xavier Catholic Church, P.O. Kingie was born January 16, 1929, Kansas City, MO to Edwin and Geraldine (Larrick) Grant. Kingie was a graduate from Mt.St. Scholastica (Benedictine College) Atchison, KS. She married Ray Cowan June of 1951, Kansas City, MO. She was Secretary for Junction City Middle School from 1969-1992. She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, Ladies Circle, Member of the Junction City Country Club Ladies Golf Association, Bridge Club and Mah-Jongg Club.
She is survived by her husband; Ray of Junction City, three sons; Steve Cowan of Overland Park, KS, Tim Cowan of Junction City, Sean Cowan of Harrisburg, PA, one daughter; Sally Rivera of Junction City, one sister; Mary Janice Short of Columbia, MO, one aunt; Dorothy Larrick of Junction City, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son; Kevin C. "Casey" Cowan, Aug. 28, 2003.
Pallbearers will be Tim Cowan, Steve Cowan, Sean Cowan, Troy Cowan, Joe Cowan and Frank Rivera.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Meehan, Patrick Meehan, Matthew Meehan and Lauren Meehan.
Musician will be Manuel Pasquil
