Frances Canniff

Frances M. Canniff, 91, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at her home. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the First Christian Church.

Frances was born July 20, 1924, in St. Francis, KS, the daughter of Caleb E. and Eva Belle (Kellum) Fredrickson.

Frances graduated from Phillips University in Enid, OK with a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Education. After graduating, she worked for the First Christian Church in Emporia, KS. During that time, she met her future husband Calvin D. Canniff. They were married August 28, 1947, in St. Francis, KS.

Calvin's work took the family to Turon, Logan and Bird City. While residing in these Kansas Communities, she was involved in church work and raising her family. In 1961, the family moved to St. Francis, KS where Frances started her teaching career. She taught music, 4th grade and kindergarten. In 1971, the family moved to Junction City, KS. Frances taught kindergarten at the Franklin and Eisenhower Elementary Schools having retired in 1986,

Frances was a member of the First Christian Church where she served as the organist and children's music director. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.

Frances is survived by her husband Calvin of the home in Junction City. She is also survived by two daughters, Rita Herrington and her husband Larry of Pearl, MS and Ruth McCabe and her husband David of Osage City, KS. She is survived by ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Lloyd Fredrickson and one great-granddaughter.
