A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at the First Christian Church in Junction City for Florence Doris Matthews, 92, Salina, formerly of Junction City. Reverend Ronnie Roberts will officiate. A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday following the service at the Wamego Cemetry. A visitation will take place from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2007, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel 203 N. Washington Street. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church 1429 St. Marys Road Junction City, Kansas 66441. Mrs. Matthews died Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at the Salina Regional Medical Center in Salina, Kansas.
Mrs. Matthews was born August 21, 1915, in Essex, Iowa the daughter of Edgar and Agnes (Sauer) Brown.
Mrs. Matthews worked in the dry-cleaning business for 45 years, and helped manage the One Hour Martenizing in Junction City from 1963 until she retired in 1988.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of the First Christian Church in Junction City.
She was married to Alvin "Bud" Post in 1935. She later married Willard Matthews January 26, 1963. He passed away January 20, 1998.
Other survivors include one son, Wayne Post and wife Sharon of Madison, Ohio and one daughter Barbara Stephens of Salina, Kansas. She is also survived by one step-son, Jeffrey Lee Matthews of Wichita, Kansas and one step daughter, Nancy Murphy and husband Wayne of Springboro, Ohio and one son - in - law Dick Ritten of Salina, Kansas. She is survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one daughter, Carole J. Ritten in 2007.
