Fern Brunswick, 95, of Chapman, formerly of Junction City, died May 13, 2016 at Chapman Valley Manor, Chapman. Fern was born March 9, 1921 at Alta Vista, the daughter of Lawrence and Minnie (Syring) Andres. Fern attended Alta Vista schools, and graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1939. She later attended Normal Training School, and then taught for 2 years in a one-room country school house, before she was married. She later worked as a cook at Ft. Riley Junior High School. Fern was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Junction City.
Fern married Ivan Brunswick on April 24, 1942 in Junction City. Ivan died April 28, 1998.
Survivors include: a son, Gary Brunswick and his wife, Gloria, El Centro, Calif.; a daughter, Nyla Jones and her husband, Gene, Alcohone, Calif.; 8 grandchildren, Devra Kolling, Wesley Jones, Wayne Jones, Amber Perkins, Brian Brunswick, Christy Benitz, Brian Briggs, and Melissa Joint; 15 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Hooper, Salina. Fern was preceded in death by a son, Darrel Brunswick in 1990.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Allan Estby presiding. Burial will follow at the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday, May 20th, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Penwell Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, KS 66441.
