Evelyn E. Coons

Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn Elizabeth Coons, 94, of White City, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006 at St. Xavier's Catholic with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Visitation will be Friday, April 7, 2006, 6-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington St. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Coons passed away April 2, 2006 at her residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Heartland Division, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave, Kansas City, MO 64105 and/or St. Xavier's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 399, Junction City, KS 66441.

Evelyn was born February 3, 1912, on a farm near Skiddy, KS, daughter of David E. and Carolyn E. (Kelso) Breen. She graduated from St. Xavier's Catholic High School in 1929. Evelyn was a member of St. Xavier's Catholic Church and past member of EHU. She was also a homemaker.

Evelyn married Edward C. Coons March 12, 1936 in Junction City, KS. He preceded her in death January 20, 1983.

She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Zimmerman, of White City, KS; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons David E. Coons, and Michael J. Coons; two sisters Marcella Breen and Vivian Breen; and one brother Jeremiah Breen.

Vocalist will be Sue Todd. Organist will be Anita Hernandez

Pallbearers will be Tony Coons, Bobby Coons, Vaughn Zimmerman, George Guinan, Kevin Kniebel and Leland Engel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Kniebel, Bill Tiede, Jim Coons, Dustin Anderson, Wayne Silviey, Harvey Kickhaefer, Roy Kickhaefer, Everett Schellhorn and Bob Crable.
