Graveside services for Eva Virgil Jorgensen Potter, 94, of W. Palm Beach, FL (Formerly of Junction City, KS), are set for 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2002 at Highland Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Bert Buurman of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Potter died December 21, 2002, at Hospice in W. Palm Beach, Florida. She was born October 16, 1908, at Axtell, KS, daughter of George and Lona (Gullion) Jorgensen. On April 12, 1926, she married Glen Austin Potter at Seneca, KS; he preceded her in death September 25, 1987. She lived in Junction City from 1941 to 1994, helping her husband and sons run Potter Oil Company, Potter Kennels, and Potter Properties throughout those years. During World War II, she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company. She was active in the First United Methodist Church Women's Society of Christian Service and Ladies Reading Club in Junction City. She was an avid golfer, passionate watercolorist, and a formidable bridge player. Shortly after her son Reginald's death in 1993, she moved to W. Palm Beach and became a familiar figure in her neighborhood, taking long walks each day and visiting with kindred spirits. Survivors include one sister, Edna Jorgensen Hughes of Summerfield, KS; Six Grandchildren, Dana, Kim, Bobby, Mitch, Diane, and Gina; and Five Great-Grandchildren, Chase, Eric, Austin, Drew, and Steffani. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Leah Jorgensen Schell; and two sons, Reginald and Gary Potter. No visitation is planned, and a memorial has not been designated.
