Memorial services for Eudora Jane (Shaw) Bunker, 83, of Junction City will be held Monday, November 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Matthew Glasgow officiating. Private family burial will precede services at Highland Cemetery. Visitation is planned for Sunday, 2-4 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Mrs. Bunker passed away at her residence on October 27, 2006. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. 5th Street, Junction City, KS 66441.

Mrs. Bunker was born on May 30, 1923, Dekalb, Illinois to James W. and Alma (Tasted) Shaw. She had been employed as a nurse in her husband Dr. Herbert L. Bunker, Jr'.s office for over 20 years. She also worked as a Registered Nurse at Junction City Hospital and the Women's and Children's Hospital in Detroit, MI. Eudora was an accomplished musician from childhood, teaching herself to play the piano, standup bass and violin.

Her musical talents were expressed as a singer in many Junction City Little Theatre productions, performing groups (People, Ladies Sextette), First Presbyterian Church Choir, and as a violinist in trios and orchestras, including the Kansas State Symphony Orchestra. She was also a songwriter of rare talent whose anthem "Would We Miss Him?" arranged by Brad Printz, was published by the prestigious Beckenhorst Press and performed widely.

As a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church, Eudora served as a dedicated Sunday School teacher, deacon, elder and choir member.

Beloved wife, mother, aunt and friend to many, she will be missed by so many in the community who loved and appreciated her wonderful, joyous spirit, her kind and loving care as a nurse and her inspiring dedication to her husband through his long illness.

She is deeply missed by her loving children Janet S. Bunker of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Jill Bunker Jaxx of San Pedro, CA and Dr. Matthew D. Bunker of Northport, AL.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Brian Warren, her husband, Dr. Herbert L. Bunker, Jr., and her sister, Mary Ellen Gassman.
