Funeral services for Etheridge E. McGuyton, 87, of Junction City will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington with Reverend Nate Butler officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Fort Riley Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 6-8 p.m. at the chapel. Mr. McGuyton passed away at Geary Community Hospital on March 20, 2008. Mr. McGuyton was born December 11, 1920, in Fayette County, Alabama the son of William McKinley and Lela May (Miles) Guyton. He has resided in Junction City, Kansas since 1963 having moved here from Alaska.
He retired from the U.S. Army. During his Army career, he was a POW in Germany during WW II. After his retirement, he worked as a local contractor in the community building houses. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Junction City. He married Estherleen Howard on July 2, 1942 in West Palm Beach, Florida. She passed away July 9, 1991.
Survivors include his companion of seventeen years Maria Wilson of Junction City, KS he is also survived by two daughters, Connie Brannan and her husband Cecil of Littleton, Colorado and Patricia Riffel of Newton, Kansas. He is survived by two sons, Rodney McGuyton and his wife, Glauce of Brazil and Donald McGuyton and his wife Elka of Casper, Wyoming. He is also survived by one brother Everett Guyton of Philadelphia, MS, Daughter-In-Law Betty McGuyton of Thompson, GA, thirteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James McGuyton and one brother and two sisters.
