Ethel M. Babst

Memorial Graveside services for Ethel M. Babst, 105, Junction City will be 10:00 a.m., at Highland Cemetery Wednesday, June 18, 2008 with Father Dale Plummer officiating. Mrs Babst passed away June 11, 2008 at Chapman Valley Manor. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, 2008, 6-7:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Memorial contributions may be given to the Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS or to an organization of donor's choice.
Ethel was the youngest of eleven children born to Sidney Sealy and Sarah Ann (Heuson) Budden March 16, 1903 at the Lower Myers Ranch near Wakefield, KS. She married Lester C. Babst October 19, 1921 at Hiawatha, KS in a double ceremony with her sister, who married Gus Wiese. After living in surrounding communities for a number of years, they returned to Junction City. Ethel was Manager of the Lingerie Dept. at Cole 's Department Store for sixteen years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; daughter Darlene Huddleston in 1996 and her siblings, She leaves to mourn her passing, daughter Donna Yenser, six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
