Ethel, better known as "Joyce", was born July 7, 1928 in Ft. Green, Florida; she was the daughter of James Elliott and Jane Isabelle (Gill) Christmas. She grew up in Wauchula, Florida where she met and married George David Olds before he deployed to war during WWII. He preceded her in death.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She wrote letters daily to her husband throughout his deployment and subsequent confinement as a Prisoner of War. She and her husband were lifelong property owners/managers in the Junction City area. She was a member of First Christian Church in Junction City, where she especially enjoyed her Sunday School Class. She was also a member of GCH Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary, Optimist, BPW, Republican Women, and bridge groups. Being involved in school activities lead her to become the Washington Elementary School PTA President, Brownie Scout Leader and provided the opportunity for her to make many life-long friends and acquaintances.
Joyce leaves behind 5 children, Jane Lueker (Gaylon), Linda Muzzall, Grant Olds (Mary), all of Junction City; Gregory Olds (Martha) of Washington, D.C.; Gary Olds (Kathy) of Manhattan, KS; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
