SSG (Ret) Ernest G. "Ernie" Healey, 66, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Geary Community Hospital. It was his wish to be cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the American Legion Post #45 in Junction City, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the American Legion Post #45 201 E. 4th Street Junction City, KS 66441, Union Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M. 722 N. Washington Street Junction City, KS 66441 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Ernie was born August 4, 1954, in Albany, NY the son of Ernest G. and Ellen Phillips (Mahn) Healey, Jr.
Ernie served in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Riley in 1987 and retired in 1993 after his twenty year career. He decided to make Junction City his home after traveling a lot with the Army. He worked as a contractor mechanic at Fort Riley after his retirement. Ernie also worked as a lawn care provider and landscaper in the community for many years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and hanging out with his many friends. Many of his friends he considered his own family. He always took the opportunity to help anyone in need. Ernie was a member of the Elks Lodge #1037, American Legion Post #45 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was also a Mason.
Survivors include one daughter, Christy E. Paquette her husband Maurice; one sister, Marian Scranton; grandchildren, Carissa Healey, Shane Healey-Fletcher and Cameron Paquette; nephews, Rob Wester, Lenny Scranton and Adam Scranton; nieces, Stacey Hendrickson and Kelly Holloway.
He was preceded in death by both parents; step mother, Rita (Louise) Healey and one sister, Linda Webster.
