Memorial service for Elsie Ann (Timm) Young, 87, of Woodbine, KS, will be Saturday, November 12, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Shady Brook (3 miles south of Woodbine on union road). Pastor John Riebhoff will officiate. Inurnment will be in Shady Brook Cemetery. Mrs. Young passed away November 2, 2005 at the Enterprise Estates Nursing Center. Memorials may be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Shady Brook, 2201 1000 Avenue, Herington, KS 67449.
Mrs. Young was born February 23, 1918, near Woodbine, KS, daughter of Albert G. and Ida M. (Schlesener) Timm. She attended Woodbine Grade School and graduated from Woodbine High School with the class of 1935. After completing a Business Secretary course, Elsie worked at the Woodbine Elevator and at the Herington Army Airfield. In 1944, she entered Civil Service at Fort Riley for the next 10 1/2 years.
Elsie was baptized, confirmed and was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Shady Brook near Woodbine.
She is survived by a nephew, Dewain Hettenbach of White City, and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Frances Lucille Timm and Agnes Lily Rohloff; half-sister, Dora L. Hettenbach; husband, Louis Fintel and husband, Dr. King L. Young.
Mrs. Young will be remembered as a person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life as evidenced byher hobby of postmark collecting. She was meticulous with details of facts and figures and used her talents in writing newspaper articles about the day-to-day life in the Woodbine area.
