Ella Louise Johnson

July 4, 1938 — November 4, 2015

Ella Louise Johnson was called to her place in Heaven on Wednesday, November 4th, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kansas at the age of 77. Ella was born on July 4, 1938 in Baltimore Maryland, the daughter of Major Lee and Annie Belle Chapman.
Ella attended school in Baltimore and graduated from Carver Vocational High School in 1957. She loved to bake and was given the responsibility to run her mother's bakery on the historical street of Pennsylvania Avenue. Ella moved to Junction City and married the love of her life, Edward Reginald Johnson on July 4, 1970. From this union came sons Edward Johnson II and Michael Johnson. Ella also helped to raise her husband's two children, Tina and Kenneth Johnson. Ella was a kind and caring person and worked with the Junction City Helping Hands in the 1980's providing private duty nursing care. This is where she met her most trusted and dearest friend, Debbi Freeman, when she came to care for Debbi's children and mother Anna Ruth Berning.
Ella suffered a stroke in the early 1990's and Debbi became her guardian and remained so until her death. Ella spent the remainder of her days in many nursing homes in the Junction City area and later at Chapman Valley Manor. Through these years Ella met and made numerous friends who cared for and loved her dearly.
Ella is survived by her son Edward Reginald Johnson II of Junction City, step daughter Tina Johnson of Junction City, step son Kenneth Johnson, 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild, her sister Bertha Lee Chapman Lloyd, and brother Eugene Drayton Jr., her niece Deborah Lloyd, nephew Kenneth Chapman, great niece Sirena Alford (Steve & Jr) and numerous other family members all of the Baltimore Maryland area and her devoted friend/guardian Debbi Freeman (Jack, Kyndall, Karmen, Kemmalyn, Rebecca, Jeffrey and Jennifer) of Junction City, KS.
Ella is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Johnson and her son Michael Johnson.
"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
