Ella F. Buettner, 77, of Junction City, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 at Mercy Regional Hospital in Manhattan. Ella was born Nov. 18, 1935 in Schweinfurt, Germany, the daughter of Otto and Frieda (Hueckmann) Schubert.
Ella attended cooking school in Germany, liked to cook, and loved to watch the Food Channel. She loved animals and children.
Ella married Werner Karl Buettner on April 15, 1961 in Schweinfurt, Germany. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2001.
Ella worked as a cook in a nursing home while in Germany. She and her husband immigrated to America, settling in Aurora, Illinois on Oct. 15, 1967, where she was a homemaker. Later they moved to Junction City to take care of his mother. Ella worked at Fashion Master Cleaners and at a nursing home. She cleaned homes and later worked as a property manager.
She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church. She often volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.
Ella is survived by her close friends, Delores Vollenweider and Sandy Leistner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Mar. 12, 2013 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Al Brungardt presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church.
