Elizabeth "Bibs" Ballinger Ridenour
Elizabeth "Bibs" Ballinger Ridenour, of Brookdale Independent Living, Leawood, KS., died Sunday June 1, 2014, at Sunrise Senior Living in Overland Park, Kansas. She was known as "Gee-Gee" to her 9 Great-Grandchildren. "Bibs" was 92.
She was born September 1, 1921 in Junction City, KS., the daughter of Dr. Robert J. and Louise Hemenway Ballinger. She attended Junction City High School, College of Emporia & Kansas State University.
She married George W. Ridenour on June 5th, 1941 at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City, KS where she had been a lifetime member. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George, of 54 years, and one sister, Janet B. Page.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen "Tricky" Matile Vincell (Richard) of Olathe, KS and son James "Jim" R. Ridenour (Sandi) of Colleyville, TX; Grandchildren, Michele Matile Tonkin, Casey M. Matile, Erin H. Wagner, Ryan R. Ridenour and nine Great-Grandchildren - Chase & Tate Tonkin, Colin & Ty Matile, Macie, Cameron,& Brady Wagner, Cole & Dane Ridenour.
She was an avid duplicate bridge player, & dedicated fan of The University of Kansas Jayhawks Basketball, & the Kansas City Chiefs. Bibs continued on with these interests when she moved to Leawood in 2005 to be close to her daughter & grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, with Pastor Matthew Glasgow presiding. Inurnment will be in Ft. Riley Cemetery.
