Elizabeth (Best) Schmedemann
Elizabeth (Best) Schmedemann, 90, was born July 3, 1917 on the same farm in Geary County where she died on December 12(13?), 2007.
Liz was joined in holy matrimony to Orville Schmedemann on Sept. 9, 1942 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. As a team, the couple farmed and raised Angus cattle. Orville died April 19, 1988 and Liz continued on the family farm raising her Angus cattle and chickens.
Liz was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Davis Creek EHU and a 4-H leader for the Humbolt 4-H Club.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Gail and Dale Williamson of Manhattan and Lynn and Ron Anderson of Dwight, granddaughters Amy Williamson of Lawrence and Dawn and Steven Rohrer of Hope, and sister Margaret (Shorty) Rogers of Alma.
Liz is also preceded in death by her parents Carl and Edith Best, sister Belle Best, brothers Jack and Bob Best, and her grandson David Heublein.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Schmedemann will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, KS with Pastor Chris Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at the Dwight Cemetery, Dwight, KS. Visitation will be held from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to the organization of the donor's choice.
