Graveside Memorial services will be held for Edwin Thomas,83, of Junction City, KS at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at Fort Riley Cemetery (Cremation is planned) Military Chaplain Paulson will officate. Edwin died November 14, 2002 at Valley View Professional Care Center. No Visitation will be held. Place Of Inurnment will be at Fort Riley Cemetery, Fort Riley, KS. Edwin was born September 21, 1919, Allentown, PA to Horic D. and Margaret (Weaver) Thomas.Edwin attended the Citadel Academy for 2 years. Edwin married Sallie Hughley, December 1945 at Fort Benning,
GA, she preceded him in death in 1985, he later married Mary Shutts, April 20, 1986 at Junction City, KS, she survives of the home. Edwin served in the U S Army from 1941 to 1961, he served in WWII and the Korean War, after retiring he moved to Junction City in 1962, he worked as a mail carrier in Junction City for 3 years, he then worked Civil Service with the Supply System at Fort Riley after retiring he then worked for Falley's part time. He was a member
of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Eagles and the American Legion. Edwin was awarded several service medals while in the Army. Among them were the Air Medal with Nine Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star with One Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Korean Service Medal with one Silver Service Star.
