Funeral services for Edwin F. Jones, 79, of Junction City, KS will be Thursday, June 9, 2005, 1 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel with Reverend Dr. Joe Belardo officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2005, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will be held at Fort Riley Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Jones passed away at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS on June 4, 2005. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association, c/o Memorial & Honor Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720, and/or The Boy Scouts, c/o Russ Black, 934 Cedar, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Jones was born March 31, 1926, Bloomingdale, OH to Frank W. Marker and Esther V. Jones. He joined the U S Army from 1944 to 1946 and again from 1950 to 1969. He was a veteran of WW II, The Korean War and Vietnam, earning the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart. Mr. Jones was a resident of Junction City for 36 years.
He married Alma Grace Porter, October 5, 1950, Cleveland, GA, she survives of the home.
He worked over the years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for George Myers Construction, Schilling Construction, Railroad Repairs and Konza Construction, he retired in 1988. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and Modern Woodmen of America.
Mr. Jones is survived by one son, Bruce Jones and wife Mary of La Crosse, KS, one daughter; Ms. Connie D. Lopushansky of Colliers, West VA, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Fort Riley Honor Guard
Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert Curley, Brenda Boyd, Ken Hoffman, Michael Goodwin, Robert Tharpe, Robert DeSerio and Johnny Williams.
