Memorial Services for Edwin Edward Junghans, 92, of Junction City, KS will be Monday, August 2, 2004, 2:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Marrs officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, August 1, 2004, 6 to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. A private family burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Mr. Junghans passed away at Valley View Professional Care Center July 29, 2004. Memorial contributions may be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 S. Eisenhower, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Junghans was born October 24, 1911, Geary County, KS to Frederick and Caroline D. (Stubbenberg) Junghans. He was drafted into the Army in 1943, serving with the 9th Armored Division and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. After being discharged in 1946, he worked at Rineys D-X Oil Co.
He met and married Genevieve Woodbury Wyckoff, August 31, 1947, Milford, KS. They owned and operated Ed's Motel from 1960-1976. Upon retirement, Ed enjoyed visiting his farm, tinkering around the house and spending time with his family and friends. Ed was a loving husband and father. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Genevieve of Junction City, one son; Greg E. Junghans of Manhattan, KS, one daughter; Jane A. Liberator of Overland Park, KS, his twin brother; Al Junghans of Junction City, KS, one granddaughter and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
