Graveside services for Edward E. Allen, Sr., 69, of Junction City will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Milford Cemetery with full military honors and with Reverend Dr. Joe Belardo officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Mr. Allen passed away at Valley View Senior Life Center on September 8, 2010. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions have been designated to Homecare and Hospice, c/o Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Allen was born December 22, 1940, Coleman, TX to Horace and Helen (Myers) Allen. He joined the U S Army March 30, 1957 and was honorabley medically discharged April of 1958. Following his time in the Army he worked construction and then for the Senior Community Training Program for 11 years as a maintenance engineer for the 4-H Senior Center and Rolling Meadows Golf Course before retiring in February of this year due to illness.
He is survived by his longtime companion Beverly Mock of Junction City, son, Edward E Allen, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Albany, OR, daughters; Elaine Manz and husband Danny of Morganville, KS, Brenda Moody and longtime boyfriend John Mallon and Teresa Laemmle and husband Russ all of Junction City, sister, Ruby Lewis of Lampasas, TX, two brothers; Dale Allen and wife Carla and Don Allen all of Junction City, five grandchildren; Doug and Laura Mock of Manhattan, KS, Terry Mock, Chris Brunette , Ashley Moody and Nicole Sistrunk all of Junction City, two great-grandsons; Christopher Brunette, Jr. of Liberty, MO and Gabriel Mock of Manhattan, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen Marie Allen and one daughter, Cheryl Mock, March 31, 2007.
