Graveside services for Edward L. Booker, 88, of Junction City, KS will be Friday, July 8, 2005, 10:30 a.m. at Fort Riley cemetery with full military honors, Chaplain Mike Derienzo will officiate. Mr. Booker passed away at Valley View Professional Care Center on July 3, 2005.
Mr. Booker was born July 2, 1917, Carthage, IL to George E. and Pearl W. (Wilson) Booker. He served in the U S Army from 1943 to 1971 retiring with the rank of E-7, he received the Expert Marksman Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Following his time in the military he then worked for the United State Post Office and again retired. Mr. Booker also worked as a driver for the Junction City Senior Center tranporting fellow seniors to local destinations as well as delivering meals on wheels. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He married Ruth M. (Lawrence) Booker, May 21, 1939, Palmyra, MO, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Russell Booker of Park City, KS, three daughters, Judy Collins of Fresno, CA, Janice McQuay of Junction City, KS and JoEllen DePoy of Glen Elder, KS, one brother, Fred Booker of Alton, IL, one sister, Eileen Millender of Wichita, KS, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one son, James Booker and one daughter, Jane Booker.
